Wood Finishing Course with Oliver from OP Woodcraft
2 Day French Polishing & Repair Course
This 2-day French polishing course is designed to give students the fundamental basics and in depth professional skills of French polishing. On this wood finishing course, we will teach you about woodcare and furniture repairs. Traditional, conservation and contemporary refinishing techniques will be taught depending on the furniture's era.
Each student will work on two small or one medium sized piece of their choice allowing them to go through the full process within two working days.
THE COURSE COVERS THE FOLLOWING: -
- Health and Safety
- Wood and finish identification
- Polishing materials, tools and personal set up list
- Stripping, neutralising and sanding/wire wool techniques
- Staining and grain fillers
- Shellacs, touching in, waxes, brush and rubber techniques.
- Oils
- Small structural and surface repairs
- Aftercare
All pieces need to be e mailed for approval before bringing on to the course so that Ollie can be prepared for what is coming in and to make sure, we have everything you may need.
