Natural Fibres – Upholstery without chemicals

Delyth is an upholsterer who specialises in creating natural fibre filling solutions using natural sheet materials. She campaigns for greater awareness of the toxic chemicals used in standard furniture foams and campaigns for a change to the fire safety legislation that leads to this chemical usage. She sits on the Board of the AMUSF and on the British Standards Institute committee that is fixing the next fire safety standard. She has taught at Central St Martins and KSM school of design, focusing on the attributes of natural fibres and how we can rethink how we build furniture. She works in an advisory capacity for several furniture manufacturers here in the UK and will be bringing to Polliander Studios a selection of fibres, a fire tested solution, and tips and tricks to make these alternative solutions work in our upholstery.
