“Begin at the beginning then go on til you come to the end then stop.” Lewis Carol
We hold five day and weekend upholstery courses in our lovely new studio by the sea in Cornwall, in the South West. Our restoration courses cover traditional and modern upholstery as well as wood restoration. So whether you have a particular piece of furniture you want to restore, are wanting a little craft holiday or a new career in restoration, you will be taught everything you need. Most of our courses are based on your bringing your own piece of furniture along with you to work on and all levels are welcome. So, whether you’re a total novice or more experienced, we will help you achieve your goals and go home with something to be treasured and admired..
Furniture restoration is a great way to calm the mind and nurture your creative side. Our course sizes are kept small and are always filled with friendly like minded people. You will get to return home with new skills, a passion for restoration, a lovely piece of furniture and some new friends.
The course is run by Polly, so you will be in very good hands. Polly comes from a family background in antiques and design and has been working as an upholsterer for over 10 years. She has been teaching at The Good Life Centre in London for over 7 years, helping people learn new skills as a hobby or to start a new career in restoration. www.thegoodlifecentre.co.uk
Our teaching studio is a unique and special space that will ignite and nurture your creativity whilst helping you switch off from the modern World. We’re a low tech studio, so we don’t have wireless internet but you can expect to find a very friendly and supportive environment. We go out of our way to make sure all of your needs are taken care of. Tea, coffee, filtered water, lunch and even a yummy afternoon tea are all provided. Even our toiletries are home made so your hard working hands get a bit of extra love too.
Our studio is in the lovely seaside town in Cornwall. This means that you can go to the beach at the end of the day for a bite to eat, a drink or just a lovely stroll. There are lots of lovely boutique shops, eateries and an array of quaint and quirky drinking holes. You will not be short of things to do but you may run out of time to do it in.
Our five day and weekend courses are run several times a month. Five day restoration courses are based on you bringing your own upholstery project to work on and run from Monday to Friday, 10.00 to 17.00. Weekend upholstery courses are held over both Saturday and Sunday from 10.00 – 17.00. Prices start at £140 for 2 days tuition, £350 for 5 days. Weekend courses can cost more if the frame and materials are provided, such as our ‘make a footstool’ courses..
Not included are any materials used. These are costed by weight or by meter. Amounts used are noted and paid for at the end of the course.
There are plenty of fabric samples and books at the studio to help you choose your perfect top fabric or you can bring what you want to use with you.
The dates of our up coming courses are on the Timetable page and you can book online. Alternatively, you can contact us for dates and booking.
We look forward to welcoming you.
